About the makers

Laurence Watchorn is a South London–based artist working across painting and sound. His canvases are made on the floor, where gesture, rhythm, and repetition build the composition over time. Marks move between abstraction and symbol, drawing on club culture, spiritual systems, ancient mark-making, and coded structures like DNA and digital language. The surface holds layers of movement and thought, with areas of density and openness sitting side by side. His work resists a single reading, holding multiple references that unfold slowly through looking.

Hunarkar is a weaving workshop specialising in hand-crafted rugs made using techniques passed down through generations. Each piece is produced on the loom using natural wool and plant-based dyes. The process is slow and manual, with close attention given to material, colour, and structure throughout. Subtle variations in tone and texture occur from piece to piece, reflecting the conditions of making and the handling of the fibres during weaving.
