About the maker
Armi Teva (b. 1992) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. She studied ceramics and glass art as well as visual storytelling at Aalto University. She works across disciplines, and in recent years has focused on ceramic art, pattern design, and public works.
At the core of her practice is a passion for drawing. She uses mediums such as clay, glazes, computers, and office gel pens to create images. Her work reflects her way of seeing the world; she is always looking for opportunities to amuse or be amused. She thrives when she finds humour, whether strange, silly, or clever, as it makes life worth living.
She values beauty and craftsmanship. Her style is abundant and romantic, and she often explores themes considered feminine. She embraces elements such as eyelashes and flowers, aiming to show that cuteness, playfulness, ornamentation, and vanity are equally relevant forms of expression.
